Its Official: You will not be able to Buy a Windows 7 Or 8.1 PC After This Month

You Can’t Buy New Windows 7 And 8.1 PCs After This Month

Microsoft’s ]]>support page]]> mentions that Windows 7 Professional, whose retail sales ended on October 31, 2013, won’t be sold pre-installed on PC. The same applies for Windows 8.1 so all  Microsoft’s royalty OEMs like Dell, HP, and Lenovo will now start selling new Windows PCs that’ll only run versions of Windows 10.

However this is not how it seems, this does not mean that windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are officially dead, these older version of windows will getting security update via windows Update but not for a long time, windows 7 will stop getting updates on Jan-14-2020 as for windows 8.1 will stop getting update  on Jan-10-2023

One of the reason for this change is because Intel and AMD’s latest Processors will only support Windows 10.

This is not a way of saying that you will not be able to install Windows 7 or 8.1 on your new machine,   you can still do that,  but soon you won’t get new updates from Microsoft.
